The long awaited HIKE at Central Penjajawoc Preserve went off without a hitch. No injuries or lost Trailmen, even! Our high-energy boys did a great job trekking through the woods, encouraging each other, and having a great time out in the wilderness.
While taking a break for water and a snack, Mr. Steve taught from John 15:1-10. He discussed how we produce fruits of the Spirit when we’re connected to the Vine (Jesus) and that God wants us to continue to produce fruit. Also, how we don’t want to walk away from God, since that causes us loose our ability to produce fruit – we would be like a branch cut off the vine. Something for us all to remember as we continue to grow in our relationships with our Lord.
After about 45 minutes we finished the one and a half mile hike. The boys proceeded to burn off the rest of their fuel with a rousing game of tag while the parents talked about upcoming plans for a little while. Here’s what we discussed:
- Next Meeting: Thursday, July 2nd at Crossroads. Be there at 6:15!
- Swimming: we will be working on swim tests over the next couple months, so please send your boys with swimsuits/towels in their packs (no goggles or swim toys, please!)
- Fire and Knives: Our older boys (those who will be going into 4th grade and up this fall) will be learning knife and fire safety in upcoming weeks.
- Camping overnight: we will plan on discussing more details at the meeting regarding our next Hit the Trail! event, which will be on July 25th.
It is a blessing to have this chance to invest in our boys’ futures. Thank you so much for being a part of the program!
