End of Summer Party

Hey guys-

Here it is the end of August and we haven’t even let everyone know what we had planned for monthly activity. Was it because we didn’t know? I think not. 🙂

So this month, we are going to have an End of Summer Party. It is going to run from 6 pm until 8 pm on Saturday, August 29th. We have permission from our friends at Crossroads Christian Camp to use the camp.

This month’s activity is going to be a mix of all the things that the boys liked doing this summer. There is going to be swimming, gaga ball, worship music, fire building, eating, and who knows what else.  We may even talk about what we are going to do starting in September!

The boys should bring the things they usually bring:

  • swim suit
  • towel
  • water shoes or old sneakers
  • clothes that can get dirty
  • a desire to have fun
  • a bag to carry it all in

Current plans for food include campfire popcorn (not too burnt, I hope) and a Mr. Steve Dutch Oven Dessert or two.  Between the eating and fire building, you can see why I have suggested clothes that can get dirty.  I know I am going to have to wear some!

Walking worthy and hoping to see everyone soon.

Moms – Shirt Sizes Needed

Moms-
We would like to purchase some uniform t-shirts for the boys. Would you provide us with your sons’ t-shirt size and whether it would be a youth or an adult size. If you have any questions, feel free to contact either Simon or Steve.

Fire and water

Sorry that I have so slack on my postings. Here are several notes wrapped into one.

Over the last couple of meetings, we have covered the basics of proper camp fire building. This included preparing the area, the three things that are required to make fire and the three types of fuel that are necessary to create a good fire. Then we got out the matches!! Each boy got a chance to make a fire (very closely supervised), while his comrades offered advice. Then he got to put it out. Properly. And completely.

It is just about time to put away the bathing suits until next year. There may be a chance to go swimming at the next two meetings. After that, it is going to be too dark and the water is going to be too cold. Based on the chattering teeth this week, the water may already be too cold.:)

Don’t forget

Please don’t forget that we are meeting this week (August 6) See you at the usual time at Crossroads Christian Camp.
