The Shirt Off Your Back

Trail Parents-

Just a quick request.  Could you send me your son(s) shirt size?  Is he a youth small, medium, or large?  Or is he an adult small, medium or large?

Please let me know by the end of the day tomorrow (Sunday) so that I can place an order for everyone’s shirt at once.  It is easiest for me if you send an e-mail.

We have a plan! (Cancellations, please take note!)

Hi all! You might want to brace yourselves for this shocking news: Simon and Steve are actually working on a calendar of events for the next 4 months. Wow! We don’t have the plan completely finalized yet, but we’re hoping to have that full plan out to you in the next week or so. Hopefully this will make it easier for families to plan summer events, knowing when/where our Hit the Trail events will be happening.

One thing we noticed as we planned is that there are some Saturdays that probably just aren’t going to work for meeting. Including this coming Saturday. Please take note of the following meeting cancellations:

We will NOT be meeting on these days:
April 15 (Easter weekend)
May 27 (Memorial Day weekend)
July 1 (Independence Day weekend)

Just so I’ve said it three times in this message: please take note – our meeting THIS SATURDAY is CANCELLED. Sorry for shouting. 🙂

I hope you are all having a great week – your friendly troop leaders offer our sincerest blessings as you and your families celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ this weekend.

All praise to our victorious conquering King!
“You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins. He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross. In this way, he disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross.”
(Colossians 2:13-15, NLT)

Day Mountain Hike Info

Here is the information for the Day Mountain Loop on the Acadia Carriage Roads coming up this Saturday, the 8th of April.

Meeting Place:
Dysart’s Travel Stop in Holden
(junction of Rt. 1A and Rt. 46)

Meeting Time:  10 am

Finish Time: 7 pm

Here are the things that your son will need:

  • Bible
  • water
  • some trail snacks
  • weather appropriate clothing including a hat, gloves and a jacket
  • rain gear
  • a small bag / backpack to carry their supplies in
(remember Simon’s trick – put a plastic bag inside your pack to keep your gear dry!)

Rain / Inclement Weather:
Boys & parents should pack appropriately for bad weather.  We plan on hiking rain or shine.  If we are faced with an unexpected nor’easter, leaders will be in touch with parents on Saturday morning to announce alternate plans.

Other Considerations:

* Make sure your trailman has plenty to eat for his lunch and snacks.  It is going to be a long day.  Feeding them a good solid breakfast will also help with the hungries on the trail.

* A dry pair of shoes, socks and a SMALL (hand) towel might make it a nicer for them on the  ride home if it does rain.  This stuff could go in a separate grocery bag since it will stay in the vehicle.

* There is no admission fee for this event, but we’d like everyone to bring enough money (aprox. $2) to get a small hot chocolate on the way home.
