Hi all – quick reminder: it is our custom to meet on the 1st – 4th Saturdays of the month. This coming weekend is going to be the 5th Saturday, so we will not be meeting.
I hope you enjoy a “free day” at home, playing with all your new presents, and spending some time frolicking in the snow!
Walk worthy, from 2017 right in to 2018!
We are canceling the TL meeting for today, due to the oncoming ice storm.
Please stay warm and safe today, and have a very merry Christmas! 🙂
The town of Eddington has a lot of respect for its military veterans.
You all have been a great part of helping honor our vets in past events, with our Flag distribution and cemetery clean-ups that we’ve done at the beginning and end of the summer.
Last year, we joined up with a number of Holden residents to assist with their “Wreaths Across America” program, making sure that every deceased veteran has a wreath placed in their memory at their grave sites. We weren’t able to participate in the Holden even this year because of some scheduling conflicts, but…
Starting this year, we’re going to be able to take part in a similar project, right in the town of Eddington! This Saturday, we will be meeting a bit earlier in the day (11:30am) at the Eddington Town Office / Veterans Memorial for a ceremony to honor the veterans, then our troop will be assisting with placement of the wreaths at the various cemeteries in town.
What to bring:
- WARM CLOTHES!! …the forecast says cold and snowy!
(hats, boots, gloves/mittens, dbl-socks, long-johns, etc.)
- A sled, if you have one (to help haul the wreaths)
- A shovel and/or broom, if you have one
(to clean up any snow around the graves)
We anticipate this community service project will take a couple hours, and we plan on finishing up with some nice, warm cocoa at the EECC church after we’ve finished.
I hope you’re able to join us for this community service project, honoring our veterans!
Please call Steve if you have any questions.
